Loving Music

Read some original quotes from our band members and what they have to say about some of the songs:

Nuclear Remedy

Wolfgang: About three weeks after the earthquake and Tsunami in Japan in March 2011 I saw the explosion of the third reactor on TV. The people in charge were interviewed, and stated, that they calculated with 2 years until the problem was terminately solved. I thought at that time, that at least 20 years would be needed to calm the reactors down and maybe prevent the worst. A terrible feeling settled and when I waited for our session that Tuesday I needed only 10 minutes to create the lyrics of that song. The riff took us a little longer, but soon a definite hardrock song had entered our repertoir. As I already stated in the song I still believe that this is the start of the end of the nuclear century, even if not every atomic plant can be shutdown at once.

I’m Your Friend

Mat: “I’m Your Friend” tells a story about the dilemma of love or friendship. About a guy who has to choose between the two.
It’s the classic story of a rejected guy that has to choose between a love that he feels and friendship. Between a love that will not be fulfilled and friendship that does not fulfill him.

The song is borne by the constant change between the first and the fourth chord with an additional exeeding fifth in the chorus. The song was actually intended as a very quiet song with only a little rise in the chorus. But during the evolvement of this song it turned out to be quite suited for the way we play it now.

I try to sing and play this song with passion as it is about a passionate and desperate though hopeful guy. The lyrics of the verses often change between this desperation and hope and culminate in the expression of pain in the chorus.

The Magic Has Gone Away

Mat: Our protagonist has found his comfort zone and brought it to perfection. It is so perfect that is seems almost magic to him. But only until this beautiful, mind-boggling girl appears that tumbles his life. So where to go? “Don’t try to hold him” or “Stay where you stay?”

The verse expresses the magic that this girl scatters. The chorus proceedes with the energy that this rising new way releases. It tells him not to stop. Take the new way! The magic of the old one has gone away anyway. This energy, this anticipation of the new life erupts in the last part of this song.

The idea for the intro came to me while listening to “Can’t Find My Way Home” by “Derek & the Dominoes” which is one of my all time favorites. I like this vintage arrangement of classic rock ballads that contains a decent guitar intro and outro. One of the kinds you don’t hear very often these days.

The Letter

aXeL.S: I wrote that song in the early 90s when I felt on one hand alone, and on the other hand very happy because I had some very good friends, and lived – for the first time in my life – the way I always wanted to do it: Independent and free. As the loneliness became another friend, I tried to capture this feeling in the lyrics of the song. Also the chords are an introduction to the first signs of madness, that affected me in times when the blues took my consciousness, and that was when I used to see the things behind the things. The song is borne by the constant change between the first and the fourth chord with an additional exeeding fifth in the chorus. The song was actually intended as a very quiet song with only a little rise in the chorus.
